National, States, and Local government establish those duties by law. Anyone who fails to perform his or her duties is subject to penalties, such as being fined or sent to prison.

Obey Laws:

The most important duty for citizens is to obey the Law. People establish laws in order to live together in peace. Laws help people understand what is acceptable behavior and what is unacceptable. Laws enable governments to keep order and protect our safety, Health, and Property. Communities suffer harm and conflict when people do not obey the law.
