Values are broad ideas about what is good and bad. People who live in the united states have many different beliefs and backgrounds. This makes America a diverse country. However, Americans share certain values.
These include freedom, Equality, Opportunity, Justice, And Democracy. Unity, Respect for one another and Tolerance are also shared American values. These values are the basis of American shared identity.

Government Institutions:
The American Value of freedom is Demonstrated in its government institutions.
Freedom is the right to make choices without undue interference from the government. American government is based on the principle of popular sovereignty. This is the idea that the government receives its power from the people.
